Atlas Copco GHS 730 VSD+ – variable-speed screw pump with HEX@ controller

The GHS 730 VSD+ achieves a nominal pumping speed of 730 m³/h (data sheet: maximum displacement 784 m³/h) and an ultimate pressure of 0.35 mbar(a). The motor is rated at 11 kW; the frequency converter works in the range 20–200 Hz (600–6000 rpm at the motor shaft). All four sizes share the same canopy of 1266 × 934 × 1083 mm (L × W × H); according to the brochure the GHS 730 VSD+ weighs 510 kg (data sheet: 510 kg air-cooled, 588 kg water-cooled). The gas inlet is DN 80, the gas outlet DN 60. According to the brochure the noise level lies between 51 and 73 dB(A); the oil capacity is 16 l.

Only as much power as needed

The pump delivers the lowest possible flow and follows the vacuum actually required. Atlas Copco quotes potential energy savings of 50 % or more compared with conventional fixed-speed vacuum technologies, with a control range of 10 to 100 %. The HEX@ controller allows remote monitoring and multi-pump operation via HEX@GRID; since March 2026 Atlas Copco supplies the GHS 350–900 VSD+ built in Qingdao with the Genius Box for remote monitoring as standard.

Atlas Copco recommends the GHS 350–900 VSD+ for applications in plastics, glass, bottling, canning, wood, packaging, printing and paper as well as meat packaging.

Versions of the GHS 730 VSD+

Ehrler & Beck offers the GHS 730 VSD+ in 30 versions. The 12 article numbers with the prefix 8153 come from the Antwerp plant and carry the CE marking (IEC, UL/cUL); they differ in oil (mineral, synthetic or food-grade oil), operation (controls on the front panel or 7" HMI touchscreen), Humid version for processes with a high water vapour content (always with synthetic oil), stainless steel version and version with test report. The 6 article numbers with the prefix 1950 8138 are the versions with IE4 motor built in Qingdao since June 2024 (air- or water-cooled, mineral or synthetic oil, standard or Humid); the 12 article numbers with the prefix 1950 8134/8135 are the Qingdao versions with IE3 motor that Atlas Copco has been phasing out since 2024. According to Atlas Copco the pumps built in Qingdao carry no CE/UL marking. All versions are designed for 3Ph 380-460 V 50/60 Hz; 220 V and 575 V are available on request according to the brochure.
