Compressors
Claw compressors
Two claw rotors turn in opposite directions without touching each other. They trap the air, compress it inside the housing and push it out to the pressure side. There is no oil in the compression chamber, so the compressed air stays clean.

Dry-running rotary vane compressors
An eccentrically mounted rotor carries vanes that trap the air in chambers; towards the pressure side the chambers get smaller and compress the air. The vanes run dry, without oil in the compression chamber.

Pressure/vacuum pumps
Overpressure and vacuum
Machines that generate overpressure and vacuum at the same time – dry-running rotary vane and claw pumps from Becker (T, DVT) and Elmo Rietschle (V-KTR, C-KLR) – are products in our pressure/vacuum pumps section.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about compressors
What is the difference between a compressor and a vacuum pump?
Both work on the same principles. A compressor delivers the air at overpressure on its pressure side; a vacuum pump draws it off on its suction side. Side channel, radial and rotary lobe blowers are often offered for both; pressure/vacuum pumps generate overpressure and vacuum at the same time.
Which technology suits blowing air and pneumatic conveying?
Side channel and radial compressors suit large flow rates at low pressures, rotary lobe compressors large flow rates up to about 1 bar. Claw and dry-running rotary vane compressors reach higher overpressures at smaller flow rates. The tables give the highest overpressure of each series.
Do the compressors work oil-free?
Claw, dry-running rotary vane, rotary lobe, side channel and radial compressors work without oil in the compression chamber; in rotary lobe compressors only the gearbox is lubricated. Liquid ring compressors work with an operating liquid.
I have an older compressor – can you name a current equivalent?
Yes. Send us the type designation from the rating plate, for example older Rietschle types (side channel: SKG, SKGS, SKP; rotary vane: CLFD, DCLF, TL, TR, CLFT, DFT, DTB; radial: RGES) or older Becker generations (DT 3, KDT 2). We name a current series and check the spare parts. Send an enquiry
Do you also supply spare parts and service for compressors?
Yes. Ehrler & Beck supplies original spare parts and accessories and carries out maintenance and repair.
Which compressor suits your application?
Tell us the flow rate, the overpressure and the medium – we advise you on the selection, spare parts and service.
