Leybold RUVAC WAU 251 – Roots pump with 253 m³/h nominal pumping speed

The RUVAC WAU 251 corresponds to the WA 251 but has an integrated pressure equalisation line with differential pressure valve. It protects the pump against overload at high pressures, so the WAU can be started together with the backing pump at atmospheric pressure – ideal for short pump-down cycles. With a TRIVAC D 65 B as the backing pump, the ultimate total pressure is < 8 × 10⁻⁴ mbar. The nominal pumping speed is 253 m³/h at 50 Hz and 304 m³/h at 60 Hz, the maximum effective pumping speed 210 and 251 m³/h respectively. The pump measures 735 × 305 × 300 mm, weighs 94 kg and is connected via DN 63 ISO-K; the noise level is below 64 dB(A).

Typical applications

Roots pumps of the RUVAC series work as boosters in front of an oil-sealed or dry backing pump. Leybold lists heat treatment and furnace construction, metallurgy, large-area coating including architectural glass, load-lock chambers, high-speed food packaging, the evacuation of lamps, and crystal pulling systems for the semiconductor and solar industries as typical applications.

Variants of the RUVAC WAU 251

The RUVAC WAU 251 is available from Ehrler & Beck in five variants (part numbers 11721, 11721T, 11721TE, 155011V, 155011VTE). The motor power of all versions with motor is 1.1 kW at 50 and 60 Hz; the mains voltage ranges from 200–240 V to 380–460 V. The pump is also available without a motor for customer IEC motors.
