Atlas Copco DRB 500 – dry Roots booster with integrated bypass

The DRB 500 delivers 505 m³/h at 50 Hz and 606 m³/h at 60 Hz (displacement). Mounted on the inlet side of a dry or oil-sealed backing pump, it significantly increases the pumping speed at low pressures and evacuates large volumes quickly – with a lower energy demand than a single pump of the same capacity. The motor delivers 2.2 kW (IE3). Dimensions 840 × 390 × 340 mm (L × W × H), weight 142 kg, inlet and outlet DN 63 ISO-K.

Integrated bypass

The bypass line connects outlet and inlet. At a high pressure difference, a differential pressure valve (max. 80 mbar) opens and lets part of the gas flow back. The pump can therefore be switched on together with the backing pump already at atmospheric pressure; this shortens the pump-down time and protects against thermal overload.

Applications of the range

Atlas Copco lists, among others, high-speed packaging (skin packaging for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices), drying and freeze drying in the food, pharmaceutical, dyestuff and chemical industries, the vacuum cooling of fruit, vegetables and flowers, and industrial processes such as altitude simulation, gas filling, catalyst manufacturing, leak testing and heat treatment.

Variants of the DRB 500

The DRB 500 is available from Ehrler & Beck in two variants: with IE3 three-phase motor for 200–240 / 380–415 V at 50 Hz and 200–220 / 380–460 V at 60 Hz (part number 8153316958) and without motor (part number 8153316966), e.g. for an existing motor or one prescribed regionally.
