About the series

Technology and features

Operating principle

Roots vacuum pumps, also known as vacuum boosters, belong to the dry-running vacuum pumps. Together with a backing pump they cover a wide range of applications in which high pumping speeds are required. The two Roots rotors operate entirely without contact and without sealing liquid in the pump chamber; on most models only the timing gears and bearings are oil-lubricated.

The technology page shows the operating principle with an interactive drawing: Roots vacuum pumps.

Features of the series

  • Three-phase motor of efficiency class IE3, flange-mounted; without motor on request
  • Integrated bypass (pressure equalisation valve): switch-on at atmospheric pressure together with the backing pump, protection against thermal overload
  • Air-cooled, no utilities required
  • Robust bearing arrangement for smooth running, long maintenance intervals
  • Vertical or horizontal gas flow, conversion on site possible
  • Dry-running Roots principle: oil-free pump chamber, gear chamber and pump chamber separated by radial shaft seals

Manufacturer's data as given in the product descriptions of the individual models.
