Atlas Copco GVD 8 – two-stage rotary vane pump for laboratory and research

The GVD 8 delivers 8.5 m³/h at 50 Hz and 10 m³/h at 60 Hz (Pneurop 6602) and reaches 2 × 10⁻³ mbar without and 6 × 10⁻² mbar with gas ballast. The motor power is 450 W (60 Hz: 550 W). Dimensions 470 × 158 × 265 mm (L × W × H), weight 28 kg, inlet DN 25 ISO-KF, outlet DN 25 ISO-KF. With the patented mode selector switch, one and the same pump can be set to high vacuum or high volume flow.

Quiet and easy to service

According to Atlas Copco, thanks to optimisations of the drive shaft and motor the GVD pumps are generally only half as loud as conventional pumps. The pressurised lubrication works over a wide oil level range, so that topping up is needed less often; a gas ballast valve helps with water vapour and condensable gases.

Applications of the range

Atlas Copco lists laboratory and benchtop applications, research and development, backing pumps for turbomolecular pumps, freeze drying, analytical instruments, electron microscopes and leak detection; when configured accordingly, also distillation, laboratory ovens, solvent concentration and other drying processes.

Variants of the GVD 8

The GVD 8 is available from Ehrler & Beck in five variants: 1Ph 110 V 50 Hz, 115-120 V 60 Hz (low-voltage version, e.g. North America) (8153310803), 1Ph 220-240 V 50 Hz, 230-240 V 60 Hz (high-voltage version, e.g. Europe) (8153310845), 3Ph 200 V 50/60 Hz, IE2 motor (3002615124), 3Ph 380-415 V 50 Hz, 460 V 60 Hz, IE2 motor (3002615127), 1Ph 100/200 V 50 Hz, 100-105/200-210 V 60 Hz (Japan version) (8153310886).
