NEO SD 16 1Ph 180-264 V 50/60 Hz, LVO 130

Part number: 970100SD4010 Series: NEO D series Manufacturer: Leybold Technology: Oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps

The Leybold NEO SD 16 is a two-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pump with 16 m³/h effective pumping speed (50 Hz) and an ultimate total pressure of < 8 × 10⁻³ mbar. It is the fanless version of the NEO D 16 and, at 52 dB(A), the quietest pump in the NEO (S)D series. Ehrler & Beck supplies the NEO SD 16 in seven variants with matching accessories, spare parts and service.

  • Pumping speed 16 m³/h 50 Hz 19 m³/h 60 Hz
  • Ultimate pressure 8 × 10-3 mbar
  • Rated motor power 0.75 kW 50 Hz 0.9 kW 60 Hz

Leybold NEO SD 16 – the fanless, particularly quiet rotary vane pump

According to Leybold, the NEO SD 16 is a variant of the NEO D 16 without a cooling fan and with a simplified design. This lowers the noise level to 52 dB(A), and according to the manufacturer the water vapour tolerance is twice that of the NEO D 16 – with unchanged dimensions (516 × 288 × 294 mm) and unchanged weight (48 kg). The nominal pumping speed is 19 m³/h at 50 Hz and 23 m³/h at 60 Hz, the effective pumping speed 16 and 19 m³/h respectively. Without gas ballast the pump reaches an ultimate total pressure of < 8 × 10⁻³ mbar, with gas ballast < 1 × 10⁻¹ mbar. The connection is DN 25 ISO-KF; the oil filling is 1.5 l.

Integrated exhaust filter instead of an external oil mist separator

Like all pumps in the NEO (S)D series, the NEO SD 16 has a high-quality exhaust filter in the oil casing. Because the filter works at pump temperature, vapours can be pumped without condensation; there is no need for an external, cold filter with the risk of corrosion and loss of performance. Leybold puts oil loss at up to 1000 times less than without external exhaust filtration.

Typical applications

For the NEO (S)D, Leybold lists analytics and glove boxes (e.g. mass spectrometers, electron microscopes), research and development with fore vacuum for turbomolecular pumps, heat treatment and plasma processes, and sterilisation. The NEO SD 16 is the right choice wherever a small backing pump has to stand directly at the workplace and every decibel counts.

Variants of the NEO SD 16

The NEO SD 16 is available from Ehrler & Beck in seven variants (part numbers 970100SD, 970100SD4010, 970100SD4200, 970102SD, 970102SD4010, 970102SD4200, 970103SD). The motor power ranges from 0.55 kW (3-phase world motor) to 0.75 kW (1-phase motor) at 50 Hz; the variants also differ in the factory oil filling (LEYBONOL LVO 710, LEYBONOL LVO 130) and in the gas ballast version. Pumping speed, ultimate pressure, dimensions and weight (48 kg) are the same for all variants.

Features of the NEO (S)D series

  • Integrated exhaust filter: exhaust gas free of oil mist without an external separator, pumping of vapours without condensation
  • Quiet operation: 52 dB(A) for the NEO SD 16, 54 dB(A) for NEO D 16 and D 25, 57 dB(A) for NEO D 40 and D 65
  • Low maintenance: according to Leybold, up to three years of maintenance-free operation in clean applications
  • Continuous operation at any inlet pressure: from atmospheric pressure down to ultimate pressure
  • Anti-suckback valve: closes hydraulically at standstill and prevents oil from flowing back
  • Energy-efficient: according to the manufacturer, typically 20 % lower energy consumption than comparable pumps
  • Options: external frequency converter, gas ballast versions, oil level, temperature and filter monitoring
