The Edwards RV8 FX is the PFPE-prepared version of the two-stage rotary vane vacuum pump RV8 for oxygen-rich applications: 8.5 m³/h at 50 Hz, ultimate pressure 2 × 10⁻² mbar with PFPE oil. Ehrler & Beck supplies the RV8 FX in five variants.
Edwards RV8 FX – two-stage rotary vane vacuum pump with 8.5 m³/h
The Edwards RV8 FX is the PFPE-prepared RV8 for oxygen-rich or reactive process gases. It delivers 8.5 m³/h at 50 Hz and, with the inert oil XTRAGRADE ADVANCED PFPE 64, reaches an ultimate pressure of 2 × 10⁻² mbar. The pump is supplied without oil filling; the PFPE oil (H11041121) must be ordered separately. Otherwise the dimensions, motors and connections of the standard RV8 apply.
The RV series
The RV series is Edwards' standard series of small oil-sealed rotary vane pumps; more than 400,000 pumps have been built to date. A mode switch sets the pump either to high vacuum mode (best ultimate pressure) or to high throughput mode for continuous inlet pressures up to 500 mbar. The two-stage gas ballast (60 g/h or 220 g/h, on the RV12 290 g/h of water vapour) can be extended with an oil return kit and an oil mist filter to form a closed circuit without oil loss. An oil-controlled inlet valve opens smoothly and closes within 0.4 seconds after switch-off, so that no oil flows back into the system. Single-phase pumps have a wide-range motor with external voltage selector and integrated IEC socket, three-phase pumps are hard-wired; both motor variants meet efficiency class IE2. An O-ring-sealed sight glass, a large oil filler and maintenance with a single hexagon key keep the service effort low.

Variants of the Edwards RV8 FX
The RV8 FX is available from Ehrler & Beck in five variants (part numbers A65409903, A65409904, A65429905, A65429925, A65409906): three single-phase versions with a switchable wide-range motor (115/230 V or 100/200 V, factory-set to the voltage stated) and two three-phase versions for 200-230 V or 380-460 V, each 50/60 Hz. Single-phase pumps are connected via an IEC socket (mains cable as an accessory), three-phase pumps are hard-wired. All FX variants are supplied without oil; the PFPE oil must be ordered separately.
