The Edwards RV12 is a two-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pump with a pumping speed of 12 m³/h at 50 Hz and an ultimate pressure of 2 × 10⁻³ mbar. Ehrler & Beck supplies the RV12 in six variants with accessories, spare parts and service.
The Edwards RV12 is the largest pump of the RV series: 12 m³/h pumping speed at 50 Hz (14.2 m³/h at 60 Hz), 1 litres of oil and a gas ballast that tolerates up to 290 g/h of water vapour in position II – more than any other model in the series. This makes it the first choice for freeze drying, distillation and filtration with a high vapour load and as a backing pump on beamlines and coating systems. Ultimate pressure without gas ballast: 2 × 10⁻³ mbar.
The RV series
The RV series is Edwards' standard series of small oil-sealed rotary vane pumps; more than 400,000 pumps have been built to date. A mode switch sets the pump either to high vacuum mode (best ultimate pressure) or to high throughput mode for continuous inlet pressures up to 500 mbar. The two-stage gas ballast (60 g/h or 220 g/h, on the RV12 290 g/h of water vapour) can be extended with an oil return kit and an oil mist filter to form a closed circuit without oil loss. An oil-controlled inlet valve opens smoothly and closes within 0.4 seconds after switch-off, so that no oil flows back into the system. Single-phase pumps have a wide-range motor with external voltage selector and integrated IEC socket, three-phase pumps are hard-wired; both motor variants meet efficiency class IE2. An O-ring-sealed sight glass, a large oil filler and maintenance with a single hexagon key keep the service effort low.

Variants of the Edwards RV12
The RV12 is available from Ehrler & Beck in six variants (part numbers A65501903, A65501904, A65522905, A65522925, A65501906, A65501907): four single-phase versions with a switchable wide-range motor (115/230 V or 100/200 V, factory-set to the voltage stated) and two three-phase versions for 200-230 V or 380-460 V, each 50/60 Hz. Single-phase pumps are connected via an IEC socket (mains cable as an accessory), three-phase pumps are hard-wired.
