About the series

Features and benefits of the RV series

The series at a glance

The pumps can be configured for different vacuum requirements and feature a two-stage gas ballast, a universal motor and a fast-closing inlet valve. A special mode selector allows the pump to be adapted to high vacuum applications or to applications with high gas throughput.

Typical fields of application are analytical instruments, laboratory vacuum, turbomolecular pumps, freeze drying and research and development. The proven design ensures high reliability, safe processes and low-maintenance operation.

With the RV series, Edwards offers a proven range of two-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps developed for high vacuum performance, reliable operation and a long service life. The compact and robust design, the low noise and vibration level and the integrated gas ballast system make the RV series a versatile solution for demanding vacuum applications in industry, research and laboratories.

High vacuum performance

The Edwards RV series provides powerful two-stage vacuum generation and achieves a high ultimate vacuum. The proven rotary vane principle enables reliable and constant performance and is suitable for demanding industrial, scientific and laboratory applications.

Quiet and reliable operation

The robust design of the RV series was developed for reliable continuous operation. Optimised components ensure a low noise and vibration level and support a long service life of the pumps.

Versatile and easy to maintain

Thanks to the integrated gas ballast system, the RV series is also suitable for applications involving condensable vapours. The compact and service-friendly design makes maintenance work easier and allows easy integration into different vacuum systems.

Operating principle

The Edwards RV series works on the proven principle of two-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum technology. An eccentrically mounted rotor with vanes rotates inside the pump housing, creating continuously changing working chambers. The air drawn in is compressed as the volume of the working chambers decreases and is then expelled through the outlet.

The pump oil performs important functions for lubrication, sealing and heat dissipation and thus supports reliable and efficient pump operation. The two-stage design enables a high ultimate vacuum, while the integrated gas ballast system helps in handling condensable vapours.

The RV series is characterised by its robust design, low noise and vibration levels and reliable performance. It is suitable for numerous applications in industry, research and laboratories, in particular for processes that require stable and high vacuum performance.
