Atlas Copco DWS 500 – robust screw vacuum pump for industry

The DWS 500 reaches a pumping speed of up to 460 m³/h and an ultimate pressure below 0.01 mbar(a). At ultimate pressure it draws 4.6 kW, at full pumping capacity 11 kW. Dimensions 1350 × 494 × 568 mm (L × W × H), inlet DN 63 ISO-F, outlet DN 63 ISO-K.

Tapered screws with variable pitch

The heart of the DWS range is two dry-running screw rotors whose profile combines parallel and tapered sections. The gas is compressed gradually along the rotors; this lowers power consumption and temperature and makes the pump insensitive to particles and liquid from the process. Shaft seal purge and gas ballast provide additional protection and extend the service intervals.

Applications of the range

Atlas Copco lists the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries and solar cells, plastics extrusion, automotive painting, heat treatment and brazing, pharmaceuticals, freeze drying, the coating of industrial glass and thin-film processes.

Variants of the DWS 500

The DWS 500 is available from Ehrler & Beck as a water-cooled version for the markets Europe and China (400 V 50 Hz, IEC), USA (230/460 V 60 Hz, cUL/UL), Asia (200/380 V 50 or 60 Hz) and Canada (575 V 60 Hz, cUL/UL), and also without motor with IEC motor flange (50 Hz) or NEMA motor flange (60 Hz, North America). With the matching adapter it becomes the backing pump of a DRB or ZRS booster pump.

• Dry, oil-free pumping chamber – no contaminated oil that has to be disposed of

• Shaft seal purge and gas ballast with atmospheric air extend the service intervals where particles and condensate are present
• Directly flanged motor, versions for all regions; also available without motor
• Dedicated accessories: silencers, non-return valves, transmitters and brackets for DRB and ZRS booster pumps
• Protection class IP54, ATEX-certified variants also available (on request)
