Atlas Copco AWS 280 – robust liquid ring pump for process vacuum

The AWS 280 delivers 246 m³/h at 50 Hz (290 m³/h at 60 Hz) and reaches 33 mbar(a). It is supplied without motor; the drive power is 7.5 kW at 50 Hz and 11 kW at 60 Hz. Inlet and outlet DN 65, operating water connection G 1/2, dimensions 746 × 450 × 670 mm (L × W × H), weight 175 kg.

The workhorses of the liquid ring range

The AWS pumps work reliably from atmospheric pressure down to ultimate pressure and pump dry as well as humid gases. Inlet manifold and outlet separator are already fitted; the internal water recirculation saves operating water.

Applications of the range

Atlas Copco lists tyre manufacturing, EPS, filtration, drying, evaporation, pulp and paper, and the evisceration of poultry; in general, filtration, vacuum forming and rapid evacuation.

Variants of the AWS 280

Ehrler & Beck supplies the AWS 280 as a stainless-steel-fitted version (grey cast iron with stainless steel impeller), completely in SS 304 or in SS 316L, each with DIN or ANSI flanges.

Features of the AWS range

  • Single-stage, high-efficiency impeller, variable port for optimum efficiency at all inlet pressures
  • Water as operating liquid: isothermal compression, insensitive to vapour, condensate, liquid carry-over and particles
  • Inlet manifold and outlet separator as standard – small footprint
  • Bearing design for tight clearances and better pumping capacity; mechanical seals as standard
  • Internal water recirculation for lower water consumption; internal and external seal flushing possible
  • Materials: grey cast iron, Stainless steel fitted, SS 304 or SS 316L; DIN or ANSI flanges
