The Edwards nES40 Ex is the ATEX version (category 2) of the single-stage rotary vane pump nES40 with a pumping speed of 38.5 m³/h at 50 Hz (47 m³/h at 60 Hz) and an ultimate pressure of 0.5 mbar. It is approved for applications with an explosive atmosphere inside and outside. Ehrler & Beck advises on selection and service.

Edwards nES40 Ex – ATEX rotary vane pump of category 2
The nES40 Ex is the explosion-proof version of the nES40 from the Edwards nES series. It is marked in accordance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU with Ex II (i) 2 G b IIB+H2 T3 / (o) 2 G IIC T4 (10 °C < Ta < 40 °C) X – that is, internally (in contact with the process gas) for category 2 of explosion group IIB including hydrogen and externally for category 2 IIC. The pump delivers 38.5 m³/h at 50 Hz and 47 m³/h at 60 Hz and reaches 0.5 mbar without gas ballast. The motor delivers 1.5 kW at 50 Hz (230/400 V) and 1.8 kW at 60 Hz (460 V); the weight with oil filling is 70 kg.
Use
The gases and vapours to be pumped should have an ignition temperature above 200 °C (temperature class T3 internal). Special conditions apply for safe operation (marking “X”), which are described in the Edwards operating instructions.
