Operating principle
Claw vacuum pumps were developed for industrial applications that require constant vacuum, high pumping speed and completely oil-free compression. Two claw rotors running without contact compress the air without oil or other operating fluids in the pump chamber, which saves a considerable amount of energy compared with conventional designs. Explosion-proof versions are available for many series.
The technology page shows the operating principle with an interactive drawing: Claw vacuum pumps.
Features of the series
- Built-in pressure control for continuous operation at 200 mbar; inlet non-return valve
- Single-stage, dry (oil-free) claw pump; no mechanical contact between the claws, virtually maintenance-free
- Silencer with drain valve integrated in the base; an external silencer can be connected in addition
- Claws and rotor housing with high-temperature-resistant coating against corrosion
- According to Edwards at least 30% more energy-efficient than oil-sealed pumps; operation with a frequency inverter possible
- Modular design: gear chamber separated from the pump chamber by a labyrinth seal
Manufacturer's data as given in the product descriptions of the individual models.
