Operating principle

Roots vacuum pumps, also known as vacuum boosters, belong to the dry-running vacuum pumps. Together with a backing pump they cover a wide range of applications in which high pumping speeds are required. The two Roots rotors operate entirely without contact and without sealing liquid in the pump chamber; on most models only the timing gears and bearings are oil-lubricated.
