About the series

Technology and features

Operating principle

Multi-stage Roots vacuum pumps compress the gas through several Roots stages arranged in series directly against atmospheric pressure and need no backing pump to do so. The pump chamber is dry and contact-free; gears and bearings are separated from the gas chamber.

The technology page shows the operating principle with an interactive drawing: Roots vacuum pumps.

Features of the series

  • Efficient: very low energy consumption, little maintenance, high availability
  • Flexible: according to Pfeiffer the shortest pump-down time for load lock chambers
  • Compact: particularly small and light
