About the series

Features and benefits of the GMB series

The series at a glance

The GMB40K was developed for demanding industrial applications and offers high performance combined with low weight and space requirements. The modular design allows flexible integration into different vacuum systems and backing pump configurations.

The pump is suitable, among other things, for steel degassing, vacuum metallurgy, chemical process engineering, low-pressure wind tunnels and space simulation. ATEX versions are also available for special applications.

With the GMB series, Edwards offers a powerful range of Roots vacuum pumps developed specifically to increase pumping speed and to speed up evacuation in vacuum systems. The two counter-rotating rotors operate without contact and thus enable efficient, low-wear transport of the process gas.

In conjunction with a suitable backing pump, the GMB series can significantly increase the pump performance and evacuation speed of a vacuum system. The proven Roots principle supports reliable vacuum generation and is particularly suitable for demanding applications in the high and medium vacuum range.

The robust design and the contact-free rotor technology ensure reliable, durable and low-maintenance operation. Thanks to different model variants, the GMB series can be adapted flexibly to various vacuum systems and process requirements.

High pumping speed

The Edwards GMB series offers a high pumping capacity and, as a Roots booster, can significantly increase the pumping speed of a vacuum system.

Fast evacuation

The powerful rotors enable efficient gas transport and thus support fast evacuation of vacuum chambers and systems.

Contact-free operation

The counter-rotating rotors operate without direct contact. This reduces mechanical wear and supports reliable continuous operation.

Operating principle

The Edwards GMB series is based on proven Roots vacuum technology and was developed to boost the performance of vacuum systems. Two rotors rotating in opposite directions operate without contact in the pump housing and convey the process gas continuously from the inlet to the outlet. As a booster, the GMB series can thus increase pumping speed and speed up the evacuation of vacuum chambers.

The contact-free rotor principle minimises mechanical wear in the pump chamber and supports reliable operation. In combination with a suitable backing pump, the GMB series is particularly suitable for applications in the high and medium vacuum range.

The robust design and the proven Roots technology enable durable, reliable and low-maintenance operation. Different versions allow flexible integration into various vacuum systems and adaptation to different process requirements.

The GMB series is suitable for industrial and scientific applications that call for high pumping speed, fast evacuation, reliable continuous operation and efficient vacuum support.
